Vacation

Tonight is my first night of vacation and I'm sitting at home, smoking my favorite pipe and watching TV. Something is wrong with this picture. Don't want to sit at home, but don't know what else to do....... Oh well I'm sure I figure something out.

In the morning, I'm going to head down to new church building and do some praying. And then probably go for a ride on my motorcycle. Then its UFC tomorrow night.

I'm going to go check my Facebook and get some ice cream.

The Daily Grind

Well I only have 1 day before I'm on vacation for a week and only 40 work days of FTO left. It should go by pretty fast. My daily drive to Ytown and back is getting less grindish. Its going by faster.

My daily Bible reading is going good. I start the book of Job tonight. Its been awhile since I've done a straight through read. I'm using the Message paraphrase translation so its new and fresh. I want to start a deeper study, but not sure what topic I want to start. I'm sure something will come to mind lol.

The kids are gone and the house is quiet except for the dogs. Its nice, but at the same time, I have to get up and get my own refill or snack or ........... whatever. I can't quite get the dogs to do it yet and Teresa won't lol.

Thats about all thats been going on the last few days,

I'll Ramble on more later.

Courage

Todays sermon was on being courageous for Christ. It was one of the best sermons I've heard in a while. You should really catch it on pod cast when its posted. ( http://journeyfernley.org/Media.html) I have kept the sermon notes I liked it so much. God is really doing some awesome things in lives here. I haven't enjoyed church this much since we left Washington. The worship is awesome, the preaching is superb and the people are great. Love the feeling of being plugged in, and on fire. It's going to amazing what the Lord does in the next 5, 10 20 years. And I got a front row seat for the show.

Enough for now, more later,

Cars and Movies, and Work

Well to catch you all up, my car quit on me the other night. Tried everything all my mechanical inclined friend's could think of. So now have to wait to come up with the money for the next maybe fix. So far I've put about $120 into fixing it. So we hope and pray its the cheapest and easiest fix. The suburban is going to get expensive fast in gas to commute in it.

While I'm blogging, the wife and I are sitting here watching "The Notebook". I like this movie. Its a good love story about commitment and sticking it out. I pray I never have to live through the life this main character has in what is supposed to be the "Golden Years", but I would read to my love everyday if thats what it took.

Not sure what the night is going to bring, supposed to have some friends stay with us this weekend while they move. We have church tomorrow and then back to day shift on Monday. 3 weeks days, 3 weeks swing, then 3 weeks grave. So in a couple months I know what shift I'm going to be on for awhile. By that time summer will almost be over (if it ever shows up). At least for a while I should be Mon - Fri. I'm not sure how swing and grave are going to work as far as days off goes. We'll see. Hopefully the car will be fixed by then so Teresa isn't left at home without a vehicle.

I think I've Rambled on enough for tonight, I will talk to you all later.

Growing up

My daughter graduated from 8th grade today, and so I think that this is a good day to start my blog.

Was it really that long ago that she was born? She'll be 15 here in a few months, soon driving a car. She made the freshman cheer team. And soon I'm sure there will be a guy brave enough to come up and talk to me about dating her. But the question still remains, was it really that long ago?

My pastor's daughter got married last weekend. Like him, I only have one daughter. (My son is 13 and going into 8th grade.) I'm sure if I asked him, he would say the same thing, "It was only yesterday........". Where has the time gone? How fast will the next 5 years go and both my kids will be out of high school and in college? How long before I'm a grandpa? (My two step boys are already out of the house and in college. Both in their early 20s, so it could be sooner than later lol)

All I know is that they are growing up fast, and I either have to slow down and enjoy it with them or let it pass me by. Somehow, I have to figure out a way to slow down and enjoy these last few year they are at home. Somehow...........
